Welcome to our school

We wish everyone a great half term break and look forward to seeing all our pupils back on Monday 26th February 2018.  If you haven't already seen it, please have a look at our information regarding World Book Day on 1st March (letter here and WBD bingo here  and don't forget that pupils can continue to access Lexia throughout the holiday if they have internet access.

A very warm welcome to Osmaston Primary School and I am delighted to be leading the school during this transition period as it moves ever closer towards becoming an academy.  As we transition through the seasons, we continue to work hard to make improvements to the school.  This half term we are introducing a major change to the way that we teach reading and writing throughout the school.  We are introducing a new and very successful programme called'Read, Write Inc' (more about this on this page).   We will also have new set of knowledge organisers (if you are not familiar with these they outline, on one page of A4, the knowledge that your child needs to know by the end of the unit (generally half a term) for each subject they study).  Finally, we hope to have made a decision on the academy trust that we will be joining and can update staff and parents on this and proposed timescales later in the term.

We continue to regularly update this website to make it more relevant to parents and more user-friendly.   This term we aim to make our communication even better and we are going to do this by producing regular updates on our new Facebook page (search for Osmaston Primary School and look for our logo) and Twitter feed (our 'handle' is @osmprisch), as well as on our news page.  We will try and make at least one update every school day if we can. If you have any suggestions or comments then we are always pleased to hear them.  Likewise if you have anything at all that you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact us.  It's usually best, in the first instance, to speak with your child's class teacher or the office for more general enquiries, but I am always happy to see parents or other members of the community if I am available.

Enjoy this half term.
